Scents to help you sleep!

Updated: Jun 7, 2023

Happiness consists of getting enough sleep and I am one of those people that seem to not get enough of it.

My sleep patterns tend to be all over the place. I used to struggle falling asleep, then when eventually asleep, I would only sleep for a few hours at a time. I think I'm just used to not getting the usual 8 hours. Do people really get 8 hours sleep every night?

If you do struggle sleeping, or find it hard to switch off after work and wind down of a night, then consider melting some of these scented wax melts to help you relax and unwind.

Lavender - we've all previously heard that this scent has been widely used for years and years to aid better sleep and treat insomnia. It helps to ease restlessness and decreases heart rate and blood pressure. Pillow sprays in this scent are also worth a go. https://www.instagram.com/ajwpamperedprincess/ on Instagram do a great Body Shop range for sleep. Definitely worth taking a look.

Jasmine - helps to calm and sooth anxiety, aides in sleep as it can help reduce your heart rate, has sedative effects on your mood and nerve activity.

I launched a new scent in Sweet Jasmine to our range of wax melts last month. It's personally one of my fav fragrances, so highly recommend. Also available in a reed diffuser too. https://www.beatriceandlilly.com/product-page/sweet-jasmine

Rose - treats depression and grief, relaxes your body, helps to ease any aches and pains. Try my Velvet Rose & Oud wax melts, also available in a diffuser. It's a dupe of a popular perfume in the same name. https://www.beatriceandlilly.com/product-page/velvet-rose-oud

Ylang Ylang - improves quality of sleep, relaxes the mind and body, helps to fight off depression and hypertension. I recently introduced wax melts in a Relaxing Ylang Ylang fragrance, now also available in a reed diffuser. https://www.beatriceandlilly.com/product-page/relaxing-ylang-ylang

Chamomile - treats insomnia, helps to reduce a fatigue feeling, and improves daily functioning. Chamomile tea is great before bed for relaxation.

Bergamot - lowers blood pressure, slows down your heart rate, reduces cortisol levels and helps to lower stress. I have Orange & Bergamot wax melts available, also in a reed diffuser too. https://www.beatriceandlilly.com/product-page/orange-bergamot

Scents To Help You Sleep

Why should we get plenty of sleep?

Our brain will function better

If you're running low on sleep, you may find that you can't concentrate properly. This is due to sleep playing a big part in your memory and the way that you learn. If you don't manage to get enough sleep it will be extremely hard to take in new information or to focus.

It will enhance your mood

Whilst you sleep, your brain processes your emotions and your mind will need some time to recognise and react to those emotions in the right way. When you don't get enough sleep, you will tend to have more negative emotions rather than positive ones. If you really are lacking in the sleep department, this can increase the chance of you having a mood disorder and likely to develop anxiety, panic attacks or even spells of depression.

Have better control over how you eat

When you're well-rested, you're less hungry. Being sleep-deprived messes with the hormones in your brain -- leptin and ghrelin - that control your appetite.

With those out of balance, your resistance to the temptation of unhealthy foods goes way down. And when you're tired, you're less likely to want to get up and move your body.

Wishing you all sweet dreams tonight x
